Meet Our Provider

As a nationally Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Arizona native, Sommer Mattingly has significant experience in women's health, family medicine, and medical weight loss. She obtained her nursing degree through Grand Canyon University and worked for over a decade at a level one trauma center providing high risk obstetrical care. During this time, she pursued a Master's of Science in Nursing and began providing care in a multicultural and lower socioeconomic community.

Throughout her nursing career she developed a passion for counseling and supporting women who were experiencing grief associated with devastating loss. This passion ultimately led her to achieving a bereavement counselor and coordinator certificate. Currently, Sommer is in solo practice at Modern Maternal Health & Wellness where she evaluates and treats women struggling with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, including grief associated with pregnancy loss. In addition to her National Certification with the American Credentialing Center (ANCC), she will be sitting for certification exam in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) this fall.

Her and her husband's journey to parenthood of their two boys was met with many struggles. They experienced overwhelming grief after they received news that she was in preterm labor and their son no longer had a heartbeat. Their first son Ryan was born still at 25 weeks gestation. This was devastating to their entire family. The most difficult day was when she returned back to work on a busy labor and delivery floor. They struggled to conceive for more than one year to conceive with their second child. With the help of medication they were able to conceive. With the support from family and friends she overcame the grief and turned it into her passion to help other women who may be experiencing loss, depression, grief, and infertility.  Her goal is to help facilitate the healing process for her patient and their families.
